There are certainly a number of things to consider when designing a new product or system. One unavoidable consideration—no matter the application—is how best to remove unwanted heat. In most systems, particularly those that employ an enclosure, some form of forced air cooling will be required to optimize the basic cooling methods available and to ultimately remove heat from the system.
In the technical paper, “Important Considerations when Selecting a Fan for Forced Air Cooling”, CUI’s VP of Application Engineering & Motion Control, Jeff Smoot, delves further into forced air cooling and the important role that fans can play in the efficient operation of an electronic system. The paper takes a closer look at understanding your system needs and requirements, fan performance, and the different fan designs and features to consider for your next project.
